Frequently asked Questions

The simple answer is: "When it's ready.".

We have a few criteria that need to be fulfilled for us to consider a release:

  1. We want to have builds for all supported platforms: Window, Linux and macOS.
  2. We need to make sure that the supported 3d file formats work as well as possible, especially FBX will benefit from more public testing.
  3. We want to make sure that all crucial feature requests from pre-release customers have been added.

Please make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date with the releases.

The two main directions will be assets management / browsing as well as using vai as a review tool.

We also expect feature requests to allow for closer collaboration with shot management software.

The indie license is designed for individuals and small studios. The license is perpetual but there will be a yearly maintenance fee for 12 months of updates. This license is node locked to two machines, these can be changed at any time by the customer.

The studio license is a floating license that comes with a license server. It is designed for mid size or larger studios that need at least five seats of vai. This license is also perpetual with a yearly fee for 12 months of updates.

The rental license is designed for studios that need a few more licenses for a short amount of time. These are floating licenses and include all updates for the rental period.

We will additionally make vai available on various third party stores such as the Microsoft Store, macOS app store or Steam.

If you stop maintenance and then resume less than 12 months after you stopped, you will just be able to join back as if nothing happened.

After that you'll be asked a fee of half the price of maintenance to jump back aboard.

We haven't finalised the prices yet, but we expect them to be at least 50% more expensive than the pre-release prices.
